Destiny2
Destiny 2’s fundamentals won’t feel much different than its 2014 predecessor, but the smart changes they’ve made to Destiny’s main gameplay loop is quite refreshing. It’s still incredibly loot-driven so expect to constantly find better gear and weapons throughout the campaign and beyond. Now there’s lots of ways to find loot. There’s new rep system which allows you to trade world-specific items for legendary engrams (rare items) on each of the games four main areas, and completing weekly challenges reward you with awesome gear. Many of Destiny’s smaller changes are nice, too, like being able to travel without having to go to orbit, or being able to find public events without a separate website. Destiny’s 2 story—which to be fair, isn’t without its holes—is far more coherent, and the last few missions are a blast. No more fiddling with a phone app anymore, thankfully. I don’t like the new consumable shaders which are reminiscent of free-to-play mobile games. Also, a lot of content is still locked being finding a team of friendly players, and for someone like me who likes to play games alone, I never ended up seeing some interesting things like a Nightfall Strike or the Raid. Destiny 2 is just a better more streamlined Destiny though, and I had a lot of fun earning loot and massacring aliens.
